Los Angeles - Batman is angling for top honours from the American Society of Cinematographers.

Wally Pfister, cinematographer on the Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight, is among contenders for the society's prize at its awards ceremony on February 15 in Los Angeles.

The nominations, announced on Wednesday, include two for Roger Deakins, for the domestic story Revolutionary Road and the Holocaust drama The Reader.

Deakins shares The Reader nomination with Chris Menges.

Also nominated are Anthony Dod Mantle for Slumdog Millionaire and Claudio Miranda for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
